Is Microneedling Good for Acne/Acne Scars?
This treatment can make acne scars look lighter or smoother, by stimulating collagen production resulting in the production of new skin cells which replace the old ones.
It is a great treatment in terms of preventing acne from developing or from preventing ongoing acne to aggravate by reducing the production of sebum responsible in making the skin oily that leads to the formation of whiteheads black heads and chronic cystic acne.
What products should you use to get optimal results from your treatment?
Microneedling will open the door for your skin to absorb products faster and deeper and your at home regime with the products recommended above on a daily basis will optimize the results of your treatment. Depending on what skin condition you are targeting with your Microneedling treatments determines what product(s) you use during and after. So if you are targeting acne, the technician might use a clearing serum for pigmentation or a brightening serum for anti-aging a collagen/hydrating serum.
For your home care we would recommend that you use a Hyaluronic Acid serum along with a Collagen serum & Vitamin C/E serum. You can use Hyaluronic serum & collagen at night and Vitamin C/E in the morning. After applying those you would apply moisturizer and during the day a sunscreen.
You may also want to introduce a Vitamin A (Retinol) to your regime starting with 0.25%. This you will only use at night, as Vitamin A (Retinol) is Photo sensitive to light. This will promote the cell turnover of the skin leading to an improved texture and reduction of fine lines.
Can Microneedling cause Keloids?
If the provider has been appropriately trained on using microneedling devices such as Dermapen, the treatment will not cause keloid scars.
A thorough consultation is essential to discuss the patient’s medical history before undergoing microneedling, as there is evidence of a genetic trait.
If you are prone to keloid formation and want to know if microneedling is right for you, your service provider can complete a patch test, in an inconspicuous area prior to completing a full treatment.

What to expect during microneedling treatment?
Prior to your microneedling treatment, your skin will be cleaned with our Dermaceutical ® line of cleansers. Numbing cream may, or may not, be applied, depending on the treatment area and client’s preference.
Your service provider will select the settings for your treatment (speed and depth) and will perform the treatment by dragging the tip of the DP4 across the surface of your skin. Treatment settings will be adjusted during the treatment session depending on the area being treated.
There may be some pinpoint bleeding during the treatment which will be completely clotted by the time the treatment is over.
